From Sheshi Çerçiz Topulli (the main square in the old town), most attractions are easily accessible on foot. The Gjirokastër Castle is a steep uphill walk. Follow the signs and cobblestone paths leading to the castle entrance. Allow about 20-30 minutes for a leisurely walk, enjoying the views along the way. There is an entrance fee of 200 lek. Additional fees for the Armaments Museum (200 lek), prison (200 lek) and Gjirokastra Museum (200 lek).

If arriving by bus from other cities, you'll likely be dropped off at the foot of the hill leading to the old town. From Boulevard 18 Shatori, take the local city bus to Sheshi Çerçiz Topulli in the old town for 30 lek. This saves a long, steep climb. Buses run regularly, but it's best to confirm the schedule at the bus station.

Taxis are available in Gjirokastër and can be easily hailed from the street. A short taxi ride from the lower town to the Gjirokastër Castle or other attractions in the old town typically costs around 200-300 lek. Agree on the fare before starting your journey.
