Discover more about Santuario de Hajji Mustafa Baba

The Santuario de Hajji Mustafa Baba, located within the ancient Krujë Castle, provides a unique spiritual experience. This small sanctuary, positioned near two Venetian-style towers, consists of two parts and houses three tombs dedicated to prophets. Currently undergoing restoration, visitors can still appreciate the site's unique atmosphere, complete with wooden props and lofts. The caretaker often provides tours of the tiny mosque room, showcasing Turkish headstones at the small gravesite and a 'famous' 500-year-old olive tree, said to have been planted at Skanderbeg's death. Historically, Krujë Castle and its surrounding area have been a melting pot of cultures and religions. The presence of a Bektashi shrine within the castle walls highlights the religious tolerance that has characterized the region. The Bektashi Order, a Sufi mystic order, has deep roots in Albania, and sites like the Santuario de Hajji Mustafa Baba serve as important pilgrimage destinations. The nearby Tekke of Dollma, also within the castle, further exemplifies this rich Bektashi heritage. Visiting the Santuario de Hajji Mustafa Baba offers a chance to connect with both the history of Krujë and its spiritual side. Despite ongoing renovations, the site retains a mystical charm, inviting contemplation and reflection.
