    From Tirana, take a bus from the Southeast Bus Station towards Elbasan. Ask the driver to drop you off in Petrelë. Buses run frequently. From the center of Petrelë, it's approximately a 1 km uphill walk along Rruga Petreles to the castle. Bus fare is typically around 200-300 ALL.

    Taxis are readily available in Tirana. A taxi ride directly to Petrelë Castle will take approximately 35 minutes. Negotiate the fare beforehand, expect to pay around 1500-2500 ALL. The taxi will drop you off near the castle entrance on Rruga Petreles.

    If you are already in Petrelë, you can reach Petrelë Castle on foot. From the center of Petrelë, head towards Rruga Petreles. The castle is located at the top of a hill and the walk is about 1 kilometer. It may take you around 20-30 minutes to reach the castle, but the views along the way are worth the effort.

The castle's origins trace back to the 6th century AD, during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, although the structure seen today largely dates from the 15th century. Strategically positioned 329 meters (1,079 ft) above sea level, Petrelë Castle was an integral part of the signaling and defense network of Krujë Castle. Fires were used to communicate between the castles. During Skanderbeg's resistance against the Ottomans, the castle was commanded by Mamica Kastrioti, Skanderbeg's sister, adding to its historical significance. The castle has a triangular shape, featuring two observation towers. Visitors can explore the grounds and enjoy stunning views of the Erzen valley, rolling hills, olive groves, and surrounding mountains.
