Discover more about Ksamil Islands

The Ksamil Islands, often called the gems of the Albanian Riviera, are a captivating group of four small islands located just off the coast of Ksamil in southern Albania. Situated in the Ionian Sea, near the Greek island of Corfu, these islands boast crystal-clear turquoise waters and stunning beaches, making them a popular destination for tourists seeking relaxation and natural beauty. The islands are part of Butrint National Park, an area of significant ecological and historical importance. Their combined area is only 8.9 hectares, but they offer unmatched scenery with vibrant greenery and a tranquil atmosphere. During the communist era, the islands were a forbidden military zone. After the 1990s, Albania opened up for tourism, and the Ksamil Islands became a sought-after destination. Each of the four islands has its unique charm. Some are close enough to the mainland to be reached by swimming, while others require a boat, kayak, or paddleboard. Isole Gemelle di Ksamil consists of two islands connected by a narrow strip of sand. Visitors can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, and exploring the diverse plant and birdlife. Pop-up bars and sunbed rentals are available on some islands during the summer.
