    Getting There

    Car

    If you are driving from the city of Berat, take the SH4 road heading south towards Gjirokastër County. Continue for approximately 50 kilometers until you reach the town of Gjirokastër. Upon entering Gjirokastër, follow the signs for the Gjirokastër Castle, which is the main attraction in the area. Parking is available near the castle entrance.

    Public Transportation

    To reach Gjirokastër County using public transportation from Tirana, head to the Kastrati Bus Station in Tirana. Look for buses heading to Gjirokastër; they depart frequently throughout the day. The journey takes about 3-4 hours. Once you arrive at the Gjirokastër bus station, you can either walk or take a local taxi towards the Gjirokastër Castle, which is about a 10-minute drive from the station.

    If you are coming from Saranda, take the SH99 road towards the north. After about 30 kilometers, you will reach the intersection with the SH4 road. Turn left onto SH4 and continue for about 20 kilometers to reach Gjirokastër County. Follow the signs to Gjirokastër Castle upon arrival.

    From Saranda, go to the main bus terminal and look for buses heading to Gjirokastër. The bus ride will take approximately 1-2 hours. Once you arrive at the Gjirokastër bus station, you can easily walk or take a taxi to Gjirokastër Castle, which is a short distance away.
