Getting There

  • Walking

    From anywhere in the lower Casbah, Port Saïd Square is easily accessible on foot. Navigate towards Rue Rachid and Rue Kessentini; the square is located at their intersection. The walk offers a chance to experience the narrow, winding streets and traditional architecture of the Casbah.

  • Public Transport

    From Algiers city center, you can take bus number 5 or 10 towards the Casbah. Buses run frequently, and the fare is around 30 DZD. Get off at the Casbah stop and walk towards Rue Rachid and Rue Kessentini. Port Saïd Square is a short 5-minute walk from the bus stop. Alternatively, take the tram from any of the central tram stops heading towards El Harrach. Get off at the 'Kouba' station and transfer to bus number 10 or 5 towards the Casbah. The combined fare for the tram and bus is about 60 DZD. After arriving at the Casbah stop, walk towards Rue Rachid and Rue Kessentini to reach Port Saïd Square.

    Taxis are readily available throughout Algiers. Hail a taxi from anywhere in the city center and ask to be taken to Port Saïd Square in the Casbah. Ensure to agree on the fare before starting your journey, as taxis in Algiers do not always have a meter.
