Getting There

  • Public Transport

    To reach Aures by public transport, take a bus from Batna to Chir. The bus station in Batna is located in the city center, with frequent buses costing around 200 DZD (approximately $1.50 USD). The journey takes about 1.5 hours. From Chir, you can walk to Aures peak (about 5 km) or hire a local taxi for around 500 DZD (about $3.50 USD) to get closer to the mountain's base. Confirm the taxi fare before starting your journey.

  • Car

    If driving from Batna, head southeast on the N3 road for approximately 50 km. Continue on the N3 until the intersection with the N31. Take the N31 towards Chir. After about 20 km, you will arrive in Chir, the closest town to Aures. From Chir, follow local signs or ask for directions to Aures peak, located just outside the town. Parking is available near the base, with some areas possibly requiring a small fee.

  • Walking

    If you are already in Chir, start from the town center and head east towards the Aures Mountains. Follow the main road towards the mountain's base. The hike is approximately 5 kilometers and can take about 1-1.5 hours, depending on your pace. Ensure you have proper footwear and carry water, as the path can be steep and rugged.
