From the Algiers city center, take the Metro Line 1 to Tafourah - Grande Poste station. From there, transfer to a bus that goes to Place de Martyrs. From Place de Martyrs, walk into the Casbah. Overview

Located in the Casbah of Algiers, Dar Hassan Pacha is a historical palace constructed in 1791 by Hassan III Pasha. The palace served as a symbol of prestige and power. In 1795, a treaty was signed with the United States here, highlighting its role in international diplomacy.Following the French colonization in 1830, it became the winter residence of the French Governor of Algiers and was remodeled in 1839 with a European-style facade. Today, Dar Hassan Pacha stands as a cultural landmark, offering visitors a glimpse into Algeria's past. The interior features intricate wood and stone work, decorated doors and windows and a vast central patio. The palace also houses a collection of illuminated manuscripts and contemporary calligraphy.
