Walking
From Martyrs' Square (Place des Martyrs), head north into the Casbah. Follow Rue Sidi M'Hamed Ben Aknoun, then turn right onto Rue Bab Azzoun. Continue onto Rue de la Marine, then turn left onto Rue Saadi et Mokhtar Ben Hafidh. The Great Mosque will be on your right. Walking through the Casbah offers a glimpse into its historic architecture and vibrant atmosphere. No costs are associated with walking.
Public Transport
From the city center, take the Algiers Metro to Tafourah-Grande Poste station. From there, walk north towards the Casbah, following the directions as described for walking. Alternatively, take a bus from a central location to a stop near the Casbah; bus fares are typically around DZD 20-50. From the bus stop, walk to the mosque. The metro fare is around DZD 50.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available throughout Algiers. Hail a taxi or use a ride-hailing app to get to the Great Mosque in the Casbah. A short taxi ride from the city center to the Casbah typically costs around DZD 290-500, but it's best to negotiate the price beforehand. Be aware that taxi fares may increase after dark.
