Getting There

Walking
From Martyrs' Square (Place des Martyrs), walk northeast towards the Casbah. Follow Rue Sidi Abdellah, a main thoroughfare through the lower Casbah. The Great Mosque will be on your left, set back slightly from the street. The walk is approximately 5-10 minutes. Be prepared for some uphill walking on uneven cobblestone streets.

Public Transport
Take the Algiers Metro to Place des Martyrs station. From the station, exit towards the Casbah. Follow the walking directions from Martyrs' Square. A single metro ticket costs approximately 50 DZD.

Taxis are readily available throughout Algiers. Ask the driver to take you to Djamaa el Kebir in the Casbah. Agree on a fare before starting your journey. A short taxi ride from the city center to the Casbah should cost around 290-300 DZD.
