The palace served as a symbol of prestige and power, and it holds historical significance due to the treaty signed with the United States on September 5, 1795.Following the French colonization of Algeria in 1830, Dar Hassan Pacha became the winter residence of the French Governor of Algiers. In 1839, the palace underwent significant remodeling, blending traditional Algerian design with European influences. The palace features a combination of Moorish architecture and Gothic Revival styles, with intricate tile work. Walls are adorned with Italian and Dutch earthenware tiles. The palace also features a vast central patio.Today, Dar Hassan Pacha stands as a cultural landmark, offering visitors a glimpse into Algeria's past.
