Beni Hammad Fort: A Glimpse into Algeria's Hammadid Past

Nestled in the Hodna Mountains near Maadid, the ruins of Beni Hammad Fort offer a captivating journey into Algeria's medieval past. Founded in 1007 by Hammad ibn Buluggin, the fort served as the capital of the Hammadid dynasty, a Berber kingdom that flourished in the 11th and 12th centuries.Strategically perched at an elevation of 1,418 meters, the city was both a military stronghold and a thriving center of commerce and culture.
