    From Dguache, head south on the P16 highway. The drive to Chott el Jerid is approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as facilities are limited in the desert area. There is no parking fee.

    From Dguache, take a bus or shared taxi towards Nefta. The bus ride costs around 5 TND and takes approximately 45 minutes. From Nefta, hire a local taxi to Chott el Jerid. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it typically ranges from 10 to 15 TND.

It's the largest salt pan of the Sahara Desert, covering an area of over 7,000 square kilometers. The name translates from Arabic as "Lagoon of the Land of Palms," a nod to the date palm trees in the surrounding El Jerid region.This remarkable landscape was once part of a prehistoric lake.
