    The Great Mosque of Tlemcen is a major historical mosque located in Tlemcen, Algeria. Founded in 1082 by the Almoravid emir Yusuf ibn Tashfin, the mosque is considered one of the most important examples of architecture from the Almoravid dynasty. The mosque has been modified and embellished several times since its construction.The mosque's prayer hall is divided into 13 naves by 12 rows of horseshoe arches running perpendicular to the qibla wall. The mihrab, indicating the direction of Mecca, is particularly ornate, surrounded by multilobed arches decorated with arabesques. The celebrated dome near the mihrab dates back to the renovation completed in 1136 by Ali ibn Yusuf. The minaret was added in 1236 by Sultan Yaghmorasan of the Abdalwadid dynasty.The Great Mosque of Tlemcen is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of cultural pride and a must-visit destination for those seeking to understand the history and artistry of the region.
