To reach Old Aoloau, start from the main road (Highway 1) and find the village of Pava'ia'i. A prominent landmark in Pava'ia'i is the Haleck Shopping Center. If coming from the east, turn left on the paved road just before the Haleck Center. Follow the road through Pava'ia'i, which leads up to Aoloau. Drive carefully, watching for potholes. Continue to the top of the mountain until you reach a fairly level road. From Aoloau village, you may need to ask locals for the precise location of the Old Aoloau site, as it is an abandoned area.

While buses can be used from some locations to reach the general Aoloau area, having a car is preferable due to the steep climb and potentially poor road conditions. From Pago Pago, take the bus towards Pava'ia'i.
