Discover more about Vall d'Incles

Vall d'Incles, located between Soldeu and El Tarter in the parish of Canillo, is a picturesque valley sculpted by glacial activity. Its U-shape and diverse terrain make it a popular destination for hikers of all levels. The valley offers a range of trails, from gentle walks along the valley floor to more challenging routes leading to alpine lakes and scenic mountain passes. Popular destinations include Estany Primer de Juclà, the largest lake in Andorra, and the Cabana Sorda lakes. The area is rich in flora and fauna, with pine and fir forests, wildflowers, and opportunities to spot local wildlife. During the summer months (typically mid-June to mid-September), vehicle access is restricted to preserve the valley's tranquility. An electric train operates during these months, providing access to the valley floor. However, dogs are not allowed on the electric train. Visitors can also explore the valley on foot, following well-marked trails. The valley's history is intertwined with the surrounding region, with the name 'Incles' possibly derived from the Roman word 'insula' meaning 'island' or 'meadow bordering a river'. While a ski lift once operated in the valley, it has since been dismantled as part of an effort to preserve the environment. Today, Vall d'Incles remains a pristine natural area, offering a variety of outdoor activities and stunning scenery.
