Discover more about La Noblesse du temps - de Salvador Dalí

Located in the heart of Andorra la Vella on Plaça de la Rotonda, La Noblesse du Temps (The Nobility of Time) is an iconic bronze sculpture by Salvador Dalí. The sculpture, standing at approximately five meters tall and weighing 1,400 kilograms, embodies Dalí's fascination with time and the surreal. The melting clock, a recurring motif in Dalí's work and most famously seen in 'The Persistence of Memory,' represents the passage of time and how its perception is influenced by human experience. In this sculpture, the clock is draped over a tree-like structure, its roots penetrating a brick platform. A crown atop the clock symbolizes power, perhaps over destiny or eternity. An angel sits to one side, seemingly in contemplation, while a woman emerges from a bath on the other, representing uncertainty and courage. Created in 1977 and cast in bronze in 1984, La Noblesse du Temps was donated to Andorra in 1999 by Enric Sabater, a friend and art collector of Dalí's. It was installed in its current location in August 2010. Plaça de la Rotonda provides a vibrant setting for the sculpture, surrounded by shops, cafes, and stunning mountain views. The square hosts various events and markets throughout the year, adding to the cultural experience.
