Getting There

Walking
The most common way to reach Refugi de Montmalús is by hiking. A popular starting point is the Cubil parking area in Grandvalira-Grau Roig. From there, follow the signs for the hiking trails towards Refugi de Montmalús and Estanys de Montmalús. The hike is approximately 2 hours with an elevation gain of around 810 meters. The trail is well-marked, but sturdy hiking boots are recommended. Note that during winter, the trails may be snow-covered and require appropriate equipment such as snowshoes or skis. There are no fees associated with hiking to the refuge.

Driving & Walking
Another option is to drive to Soldeu and then hike to the refuge. From Soldeu, follow the ski track towards Coma Estremera Lake (2,392 meters). Then, ascend to the pass located in front and to the left of Pic de Soldeu, passing through els Fontanals, Port Dret, and following the Sant Josep River to the refuge. This route takes approximately 2 hours with an elevation gain of 810 meters and is considered moderately difficult. Parking in Soldeu typically costs around €1-2 per hour, with daily rates around €5-10, depending on the location and season.
