Discover more about Casa de la Vall

Casa de la Vall, or House of the Valley, stands as one of Andorra's most symbolic monuments. Constructed in the late 16th century (1580) as a manor and defense tower for the Busquets family, it was acquired in 1702 by the Consell de la Terra (General Council) to serve as the country's parliament until 2011. Inside, visitors can explore the Criminal Court with its wooden furnishings, the Hall of Lost Steps with original 16th-century murals, and the Council Chamber. A highlight is the 'closet of the seven keys,' safeguarding historical documents. The second floor, once an attic, now functions as a multipurpose hall. Architecturally, the building features a quadrangular floor plan with three galleries, a slate gabled roof, and granite keystones at the main entrance. The main facade displays the Busquets family coat of arms and the Andorran coat of arms with the motto 'Virtus, Unita, Fortior' (United virtue is stronger). The square outside includes sculptures depicting significant events in Andorran history, such as the signing of the Pariatge and the 1993 constitutional referendum. Located on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Valira River valley, Casa de la Vall offers guided tours in multiple languages and provides audio guides.
