Pont dels Escalls, located in the parish of Escaldes-Engordany, is one of Andorra's most historically important bridges. Dating back to the 13th century, this medieval structure is significant as the location where the 1278 and 1288 agreements, which led to the creation of the Co-Principality between the Count of Foix and the Bishop of Urgell, were signed. The bridge is situated on the old road that once connected Andorra la Vella with the villages of Engordany and Escaldes. Constructed from a variety of stones arranged irregularly, it features keystones made of pumice stone. The upper part of the bridge is flat, with a small stone parapet running along its length. In later years, two iron railings were added for safety, as it is also one of the highest bridges in the country. It features a single semicircular arch.Today, the Pont dels Escalls stands as a testament to Andorra's enduring heritage and offers visitors a chance to step back in time. The surrounding area provides scenic views of the Valira del Nord river and the town of Les Escaldes, making it a worthwhile destination for history enthusiasts and sightseers alike. While the bridge has undergone some restoration over the centuries, it retains its medieval charm and continues to be a cherished landmark in Andorra.
