Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Driving
From the town of Calandula, the falls are easily accessible by car. Follow the signs towards the Pousada de Calandula. A short distance before reaching the Pousada, there is a checkpoint where an entrance fee is collected. As of January 2022, the fee was 500 Kwanzas per person and 1000 Kwanzas per vehicle. The road to the Pousada is in poor condition in some sections.
Walking
Once at the Pousada de Calandula, there are walking trails leading to various viewpoints of the falls. Some trails lead to the top of the falls, while others descend closer to the base. Be aware that the trails can be muddy, especially during the rainy season. Local guides may offer their services to accompany you on these trails; negotiate the price beforehand. Guide prices can range, so it is important to agree on a price before starting the tour.
