Discover more about Mimi’s Bay Pond

Mimi's Bay Pond, situated near Mimi Bay on the southeastern coast of Anguilla, is a hidden gem that beckons tourists with its tranquil charm and stunning natural beauty. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, this bay is characterized by its soft, white sandy beaches and clear, inviting waters. Unlike some of Anguilla's more developed beaches, Mimi Bay remains relatively untouched, providing a sense of unspoiled natural beauty. The bay is ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling, although it's worth noting that there are no facilities directly on the beach, so visitors should come prepared with their own supplies. The waters are generally calm, making it suitable for families and casual swimmers. The surrounding area is dotted with lush tropical vegetation and offers a peaceful ambiance, ideal for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Historically, Anguilla was first inhabited by Amerindian peoples around 4000 years ago, who called the island "Malliouhana," meaning arrow-shaped sea serpent. While Mimi Bay itself doesn't have specific historical landmarks, the East End of Anguilla has evidence of Amerindian settlements dating back 3300 years. The island's name was later changed to Anguilla by Europeans, referencing its long, eel-like shape. Today, Anguilla is known for its blend of luxury and authentic Caribbean culture, offering visitors a unique and relaxing experience. Mimi Bay Pond experiences changes in the number of birds present during any given year. This is mainly due to an increase in the number of Black-necked stilts observed especially during early and late months of the year. Bird numbers are significantly lower during the remainder of the year.
