San Isidro Cathedral: A Neo-Gothic Masterpiece

San Isidro Cathedral, located in the historic district of San Isidro, is a breathtaking example of Neo-Gothic architecture. Designed by French architects Dunant and Paquin, it was built on the site of an earlier chapel and inaugurated in 1898. The cathedral's impressive facade features soaring spires that reach 68 meters (223 feet) into the sky. The structure is built in a Latin cross layout, with stone and brick walls adorned with beautiful stained glass windows that illuminate the interior with vibrant colors. Inside, visitors can admire ornate altars and sacred art, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and spiritual reflection. Surrounding the cathedral, the charming streets of San Isidro invite exploration, with quaint shops, delightful cafes, and nearby parks enhancing the serene environment. The San Isidro artisan fair, held in Plaza Mitre (also known as Plaza de San Isidro) in front of the cathedral, offers a chance to purchase unique leather, wood, textile, metal, and ceramic products. The fair is the oldest of its kind in the Buenos Aires Province, dating back to 1971. The cathedral underwent a restoration project completed in 2007, ensuring its preservation for future generations.
