    Walking

    From the Obelisco, walk west along Avenida de Mayo for approximately 1.7km. The Congreso Nacional will be at the end of the avenue, dominating the landscape. The walk takes about 20 minutes.

    Public Transport

    Take Subte Line A to the 'Congreso' station, which drops you off right at the Plaza del Congreso, in front of the building. A single trip costs AR$757 for registered SUBE users. Alternatively, numerous buses (colectivos) stop near the Congreso. A minimum bus fare starts at AR$270.

    The Palacio del Congreso Nacional, located at the western end of Avenida de Mayo, is home to the Argentine National Congress. This impressive building, resembling the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., stands as a symbol of Argentina's democratic government and architectural heritage.Designed by Italian architect Vittorio Meano and completed by Argentine architect Julio Dormal, construction began in 1898 and concluded in 1906, with additional work continuing until 1946. The palace is primarily constructed from limestone and features an 80-meter-high bronze-plated dome, one of the city's largest. The exterior showcases allegorical statues by Argentine sculptor Lola Mora, while the interior boasts Spanish wood motifs, German tile floors, and French marbles.Inside, visitors can explore the chambers of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, the Pink Room of Eva Perón, and a superb library. Free guided tours in Spanish and English are available, providing insights into the building's history, architecture, and legislative processes. A photo ID is required for entry.
