Discover more about French Garden

The French Garden, nestled within the expansive Parque de la Independencia in Rosario, Argentina, provides a tranquil retreat reminiscent of the grand gardens of Versailles. Inaugurated in 1942, this meticulously designed space reflects the influence of French landscape architecture, offering visitors a serene environment for leisurely strolls and quiet contemplation. The garden's design, conceived by architect Solari Viglieno, centers around a 100-meter rectangular fountain, framed by carefully arranged bushes and brick-red paths. Elevated, symmetrical spaces with benches, surrounded by evergreen shrubbery, create intimate and romantic nooks. The garden also features two sculptures by José Gerbino, Venus East and West, added in 1944. Parque de la Independencia, where the French Garden resides, was designed around 1900 by French-born landscape architect Charles Thays to commemorate the centennial of Argentina's independence. The park itself is divided into four sections, each representing a major European immigrant community that contributed to Rosario's development: French, British, Spanish and Italian. The French Garden embodies the elegance and sophistication associated with French garden design. Today, the French Garden forms part of a picturesque pathway, inviting visitors to bask in the sun, particularly during the pleasant spring and autumn months. It's a place to escape the city's hustle and bustle and immerse oneself in a peaceful, aesthetically pleasing environment.
