Teatro El Círculo, a beacon of cultural heritage in Rosario, has been a pivotal part of the city's artistic landscape since its grand opening on June 7, 1904. Originally conceived in 1888, the theater's construction faced numerous challenges, including financial difficulties that led to its abandonment and a period when it was known as the 'Cave of Thieves'. However, in 1903, Emilio Schiffner revived the project, entrusting German engineer George Goldammer with ensuring exceptional acoustics.The theater boasts a seating capacity of 1,500 across five levels, offering an intimate yet grand experience. The interior is adorned with sculptures and plasterwork by Pellegrini and Belotti, creating an atmosphere of opulence. The stage curtain, designed by Giuseppe Carmignani, features images from Greek mythology.Throughout its history, Teatro El Círculo has hosted legendary artists such as Enrico Caruso, who praised its acoustics. Despite facing potential demolition in the mid-20th century, the theater was acquired by El Círculo de la Biblioteca in 1943, preserving it as a cultural center. A full restoration was completed for its 100th anniversary in 2004. Today, it continues to host a wide range of performances and events, solidifying its role as a cultural cornerstone in Rosario.
