Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes, established in 1971, is a protected area showcasing a unique Patagonian landscape. Located on the Quetrihué Peninsula, near Villa La Angostura, the park is famous for its dense forest of arrayán trees (Luma apiculata), also known as southern myrtles. These trees can live up to 650 years, growing up to 15 meters tall, and are characterized by their twisted trunks and smooth, cinnamon-colored bark that peels away to reveal white spots.
The park spans over 1,700 hectares and offers a variety of activities, including hiking and mountain biking. A 12-kilometer trail extends from the park's entrance to the myrtle forest, with viewpoints overlooking Mansa and Brava Bays. To protect the fragile root systems of the arrayán trees, visitors are required to stay on elevated wooden walkways within the forest.
The park's unique landscape is rumored to have inspired Walt Disney's film, Bambi, though this remains unconfirmed. The park also plays a vital role in conserving the region's biodiversity, providing habitat for the huillín otter and various bird species.

Public Transport
From Villa La Angostura, take a local bus from the main bus terminal towards the park. Buses leave frequently, and the fare is approximately ARS 100 each way. Inform the driver you wish to get off at Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes. The bus will take you directly to the park entrance. Keep in mind that local buses in Villa La Angostura typically only accept cash. Alternatively, buses from Bariloche to Villa La Angostura cost around $6 (ARS 6000 approximately). From there, connect to the local bus to the park entrance.
Walking
From Villa La Angostura, it is possible to walk to the entrance of Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes. The distance is approximately 3 km. From the Villa La Angostura bus terminal, walk back onto the main road to the Tourist Information Office. From there, follow the road towards the park entrance. The walk takes approximately 20 minutes.
Boat
A scenic way to reach Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes is by boat from Villa La Angostura's port. Round trip tickets typically cost around ARS 300. Check boat schedules in advance as they vary, especially during the off-peak season. Alternatively, boat tours are available from Bariloche to Victoria Island and Los Arrayanes for approximately ARS 112,000 per person. This price does not include the park entrance fee of ARS 20,000 for non-residents.
