If you're traveling by car, start on US-60 E from any location in Apache County. Continue on US-60 E and merge onto I-17 S toward Phoenix. Take exit 198 for AZ-202 Loop E toward Mesa. Merge onto AZ-202 Loop E and then take exit 9B for I-10 S toward Tucson. After a short distance, take exit 144B for 16th St. Follow signs for South Mountain Park. Continue on 16th St until you reach the entrance to South Mountain Park. Scorpion Gulch is located within the park, and there is ample parking available.

For those using public transportation, take a Greyhound or local bus service from various points in Apache County to Phoenix. Once in Phoenix, use Valley Metro light rail to reach the nearest station to South Mountain Park. You may need to take a local bus (Route 7) from the light rail station to reach the park entrance. From there, you can walk to Scorpion Gulch, which is approximately a half-mile from the bus stop. Be sure to check the bus and light rail schedules in advance to plan your trip accordingly.
