Getting There

• Public Transit

  To get to Bear Mountain Trailhead from downtown Flagstaff, start by walking to the nearest bus stop for the Mountain Line (Route 10). Take the bus towards the 'Sedona' route. The ride will take approximately 45 minutes. Once you reach the Sedona stop, disembark at the 'Sedona Visitor Center' stop. From there, head east on State Route 89A for about 0.5 miles until you reach the Bear Mountain Trailhead entrance on your left. Look for signs directing you to the trailhead.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from a local shop in Flagstaff. Head south on Milton Road until you reach Route 89A. Turn left onto 89A and follow it for about 30 miles. The ride is scenic but be prepared for some uphill sections. Once you get to the Bear Mountain Trailhead, you'll see the entrance on your left. Make sure to wear a helmet and stay hydrated!

• Walking

  If you're up for a challenge and are already near the outskirts of Flagstaff, you can walk to Bear Mountain Trailhead. Start from the Flagstaff Mall and head southwest on 89A. It will take you approximately 7 hours to walk the 30-mile distance. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water and snacks for this long trek.
