From Gilbert, head to the nearest Valley Metro bus stop. You can take the Route 140 bus towards the 'Valley Metro Rail' station. Ride the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the 'Tempe Transportation Center' stop. Transfer to the Light Rail at this station and head towards 'Phoenix'. Stay on the rail until you reach 'Roosevelt/Central Ave' station. Exit the train and walk north on Central Avenue until you reach East McDowell Road. Turn left and walk west until you reach North 3rd Avenue. Finally, turn right and walk for about 5 minutes to reach the Japanese Friendship Garden at 1125 N 3rd Ave.

If you're comfortable biking, rent a bicycle at one of the local rental shops in Gilbert. Start by heading north on Gilbert Road until you reach the intersection with East McDowell Road. Turn left onto McDowell Road and continue heading west. After about 8 miles, turn right onto North 3rd Avenue. The Japanese Friendship Garden will be on your left after a short ride of about 0.5 miles.

For those who prefer to walk, start at the Gilbert Town Square Park. Head west on E Juniper Ave towards N Gilbert Rd and take a left on Gilbert Rd. Walk north until you reach East McDowell Road. Turn left on East McDowell and continue walking until you reach North 3rd Avenue. Turn right and walk approximately 0.5 miles to arrive at the Japanese Friendship Garden located at 1125 N 3rd Ave.
