Getting There

• Car

  To reach Glen Canyon National Recreation Area from any location within Grand Canyon National Park, start by heading south on AZ-64. Follow AZ-64 until you reach the intersection with US-89. Turn left onto US-89 South. Continue on US-89 for approximately 120 miles. Glen Canyon National Recreation Area will be on your left. Be prepared for possible entrance fees into the recreation area, which can vary depending on the specific sites you wish to visit.

• Public Transportation

  If traveling by public transportation, you will need to start by taking a shuttle or bus service from Grand Canyon Village to Williams, AZ. Check local schedules for the Grand Canyon Shuttle. From Williams, you can catch a Greyhound bus heading toward Page, AZ. Once you arrive in Page, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area entrance. Be sure to check the schedules ahead of time as public transportation can have limited service.

• Combination of Car and Boat

  If you are interested in exploring the waters of Glen Canyon, you can drive from Grand Canyon National Park to the recreation area as previously described. Once at the Glen Canyon entrance, you can rent a boat at the Lake Powell Marina. Note that boat rentals have additional costs, so be prepared to budget for this if you plan to experience the lake.
