Getting There

Shuttle Bus

Pima Point is accessible via the free Hermits Rest (Red) Route shuttle. From Grand Canyon Village, board the Red Route shuttle. The ride to Pima Point takes approximately 40 minutes, with stops at other viewpoints along the way. The shuttle operates from March 1 to November 30. Check the National Park Service website for the most up-to-date schedule. No tickets are required; the shuttle is included with your park entrance fee. During the summer, buses arrive every 10-15 minutes. Be at a bus stop no later than 30 minutes after sunset.
Walking

Pima Point can be reached by walking along the South Rim Trail/Greenway Trail. From Grand Canyon Village, follow the paved Rim Trail west. The walk to Pima Point is approximately 7.8 miles and takes 2-3 hours. The trail offers stunning views of the canyon along the way. The Greenway Trail is wheelchair accessible.

Pima Point is a stunning viewpoint located along Hermit Road on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Situated on the northern edge of a wide promontory, it provides visitors with sweeping, unobstructed views stretching over 40 miles of the canyon. From this vantage point, you can see Bright Angel Canyon to the east, Powell Plateau, and the Great Scenic Divide to the west. On a clear day, the colorful rock layers reveal the geological history of the canyon.One of the unique aspects of Pima Point is the potential to hear the distant roar of the Colorado River as it crashes over Granite Rapids far below. This auditory experience, combined with the visual grandeur, makes for a memorable visit.In 1925, the Fred Harvey Company constructed a cable tram from Pima Point down to Hermit Camp, about 3,600 feet below. This tram, believed to be the longest single-span cable tram in the U.S. at the time, was used to transport supplies. The camp was closed in 1930 and burned down in 1936. Pima Point was named after the Pima Native American tribe.Today, Pima Point is accessible via the free Hermits Rest (Red) Route shuttle during most of the year. The Greenway Trail also makes it accessible for cyclists and visitors using wheelchairs.
