Discover more about Anthem Veterans Memorial

Located in Anthem Community Park, the Anthem Veterans Memorial is a powerful tribute to the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Conceived in 2009 by retired Rear Adm. Ron Tucker and designed by artist Renee Palmer-Jones, the memorial was dedicated in 2011 and has since become a place of honor, reflection, and respect. The memorial consists of five white pillars, each representing one of the five branches of the U.S. military: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. The pillars are arranged in order of precedence according to the Department of Defense. Each pillar features an elliptical opening that is precisely aligned to create a unique solar effect. On Veterans Day, November 11th, at exactly 11:11 AM Mountain Standard Time, the sun's rays pass through these openings to spotlight the Great Seal of the United States, which is located at the foot of the pillars. This alignment symbolizes the unified support of the armed forces for the nation. The monument is surrounded by red paving stones engraved with the names of veterans, the red, white and blue colors of the memorial representing the colors of the American flag. The Anthem Veterans Memorial has received several awards, including the Arizona Historic Landmark Designation in 2012. It serves as a gathering place for ceremonies and quiet reflection, offering a space for families, veterans, and visitors to honor those who have served.
