Car
If you're driving, get onto I-10 E from your location. Follow I-10 E to exit 257 for Houghton Rd. Continue on Houghton Rd for about 7 miles until you reach the intersection with Valencia Rd. Turn right onto Valencia Rd, and after about 2 miles, turn left onto Cactus Forest Dr. Follow Cactus Forest Dr for approximately 3 miles until you reach Javelina Rocks, which will be on your left. There is no admission fee for accessing the rocks.
Public Transportation
To use public transportation, take the Sun Tran bus route 6 from downtown Tucson towards the Eastside. Get off at the stop at Houghton Rd and Valencia Rd. From there, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to cover the remaining distance of about 5 miles to Javelina Rocks. The taxi fare should be approximately $15-$20.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, you can bike to Javelina Rocks. Start from downtown Tucson and follow the dedicated bike lanes on Broadway Blvd eastward until you reach Houghton Rd. Turn right on Houghton Rd and continue until you reach Valencia Rd. Turn right on Valencia Rd and then left on Cactus Forest Dr. The total distance from downtown Tucson to Javelina Rocks is approximately 12 miles, so be prepared for a bit of a workout!
Walking
Walking directly to Javelina Rocks is not practical due to the distances involved. However, if you're in the nearby neighborhoods, you can walk along Cactus Forest Dr. Be sure to stay hydrated and wear comfortable shoes, as the area can be quite warm.
