Car
If you're driving, start from Tucson, Arizona. Head southeast on S Kolb Rd toward E 22nd St. Continue onto E 22nd St, then merge onto I-10 E. Take exit 262 for S Houghton Rd and turn left onto S Houghton Rd. Follow S Houghton Rd until you reach E Old Spanish Trail, then turn right. Continue on E Old Spanish Trail until you reach the entrance of Saguaro National Park. Once inside the park, follow the signs to the Sonoran Desert Overlook, which is located at the coordinates 57Q9+WC Saguaro National Park, Tucson, AZ 85730. The park entrance may charge a fee, so be prepared for a small cost.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take the Sun Tran bus route that goes to the Saguaro National Park area. You can catch the bus at various locations in Tucson, such as the Tucson Downtown Transit Center. Once you reach the nearest stop to the park, you may need to use a rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) or a taxi to reach the Sonoran Desert Overlook specifically, as public transport does not go directly into the park. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as service may be limited on weekends and holidays.
Bicycle
If you're an adventurous cyclist, you can bike to the Sonoran Desert Overlook from Tucson. Start at downtown Tucson and take the bike-friendly roads southeast towards the Saguaro National Park. Be aware that some roads may not have bike lanes, so take caution while cycling. Once you reach the park entrance, you’ll be able to bike through the park to find the Sonoran Desert Overlook. Ensure that you have a bike lock, as you may want to secure your bike while you enjoy the views.
