Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by navigating to South Mountain Park, which is located at 10919 South Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85042. From the main roads in Phoenix, head south on Central Avenue. Continue driving until you enter South Mountain Park. Follow the signs for Dobbins Lookout. The last stretch involves a winding road uphill, which may require caution due to sharp turns and potential pedestrians. There is free parking available at the lookout point.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Dobbins Lookout using public transportation, take the Valley Metro Light Rail to the nearest stop, which is at 19th Avenue and South Mountain. From there, you will need to catch the Valley Metro Bus Route 50 heading south towards South Mountain Park. Get off at the closest stop near the entrance of South Mountain Park. From the bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles to reach Dobbins Lookout. Be prepared for some uphill walking, and consider bringing water and comfortable shoes. Check the Valley Metro website for current bus schedules and fares, which may vary.

• Hiking

  If you are already in South Mountain Park and prefer to hike, you can access the Dobbins Lookout trailhead from various points in the park. There are several trails leading up to the lookout, which provide stunning views of the surrounding desert landscape. Make sure to bring plenty of water, wear sturdy hiking shoes, and check the weather conditions before heading out. The hike can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on your pace and the chosen trail.
