Car
If you are traveling by car, start on AZ-260 W from any location in Verde Valley. Continue on AZ-260 W until you reach I-17 S. Merge onto I-17 S and continue driving for approximately 40 miles. Take exit 278 for AZ-86 toward Tucson. Merge onto AZ-86 E and follow it for about 16 miles. You will see the signs for Canoa Ranch Rest Area on your right-hand side. The rest area is located at latitude 31.7708333 and longitude -111.0344444.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, take a local bus service from Verde Valley to the nearest transit hub. You may need to transfer to a Greyhound or a similar long-distance service that operates routes towards Tucson. Once in Tucson, you can catch a regional bus that heads towards Green Valley. Ensure to check the schedule as services may be limited. The Canoa Ranch Rest Area is about a mile from the nearest bus stop, so you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to complete the last part of your journey.
Bicycle
For those adventurous enough to cycle, you can ride from Verde Valley via AZ-260 W. This route will take you through scenic views, but be aware it is quite a long ride. Follow the same path as if you were driving, merging onto I-17 S, then take AZ-86 E. Keep in mind that safety gear is essential, and ensure to have plenty of water and snacks for the trip. The rest area has bike racks for parking upon arrival.
Walking
Walking to Canoa Ranch Rest Area is not recommended due to the distance and lack of pedestrian-friendly paths along major highways. If you are already in the vicinity, it would be best to use a rideshare service to reach the rest area safely.
