Discover more about USS Razorback

The USS Razorback (SS-394), now a part of the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum (AIMM), offers a unique journey into naval history. Launched in 1944, the Razorback earned five battle stars during World War II and four campaign stars for Vietnam War service. It was present in Tokyo Bay during the formal surrender of Japan. Named after a species of whale, not the University of Arkansas mascot, the USS Razorback is the longest-serving combat front-line submarine still existing. It was commissioned by the U.S. Navy and later by the Turkish Navy, serving for a total of 56 years. In 1970, it was sold to Turkey and renamed TCG Muratreis, serving until 2001. Visitors can explore the submarine's interior, experiencing the tight quarters and gaining insight into the lives of submariners. The museum also features exhibits about the USS Hoga, a tugboat recognized for its service during the Pearl Harbor attack, making the AIMM the only place where you can see vessels that bookend WWII. The North Little Rock Riverfront Park, which surrounds the museum, includes memorials dedicated to the USS Snook and USS Scorpion.
