Discover more about Noble Fountain

Located in Hot Springs National Park, the Noble Fountain is more than just a water source; it's a historical landmark that embodies the area's rich past. Established in the 1890s, the fountain is named after John W. Noble, who was the Secretary of the Interior under President Benjamin Harrison. Noble secured funding for improvements to Hot Springs Reservation, which later became a National Park. Originally situated at the end of Magnolia Promenade, in front of Bathhouse Row, the fountain has been moved several times. In 1945, it was moved in front of the Administration Building due to increasing traffic. By 1957, it was relocated to its current spot at the entrance of the Grand Promenade on Reserve Street. After being out of service for three years, the fountain was restored and reopened in 2023, maintaining its historical integrity. The fountain was designed by sculptor Edward Kemeys, who was known for his animal sculptures. Visitors can drink from the fountain, experiencing the mineral-rich water that maintains a cool temperature despite being heated at the source. The water averages 143º Fahrenheit/62º Celsius. The fountain has been a part of the local culture since its inception, serving as a gathering place and a symbol of the town's spa heritage.
