Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, begin your journey by navigating to the nearest major road, which can vary based on your starting location in the Ouachita Mountains. For instance, if you are near Hot Springs, take US-270 West towards Mountain Pine. Continue for about 15 miles until you reach the intersection with AR-227. Turn left onto AR-227 and follow it for approximately 5 miles. You will see signs for Lake Ouachita State Park. Turn onto Mountain Pine Road (also known as AR-227) and continue for about 2 miles. The park entrance will be on your left at 5451 Mountain Pine Rd, Mountain Pine, AR 71956.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, you will need to first reach a nearby city with bus services, such as Hot Springs or Little Rock. From there, look for the Greyhound or a local bus service that travels to Mountain Pine. Once you arrive in Mountain Pine, you may need to call a local taxi service or use a rideshare app to get to Lake Ouachita State Park since public transport does not go directly to the park.

• Bicycle

  For adventurous travelers, biking to Lake Ouachita State Park is an option, depending on your starting point. If you are near Hot Springs, take the scenic route via the Ouachita National Forest roads. Make sure to have a good map or GPS device, as some roads may not be well marked. The distance is approximately 15 miles and will take you through beautiful forested areas. Ensure you have the necessary supplies, and keep in mind that some areas may have steep inclines.

• Walking

  If you are staying within a few miles of the park, walking is an option. From Mountain Pine, head north along Mountain Pine Road. It is a peaceful walk, but be cautious of traffic. The walk from the town center to the park entrance is roughly 2 miles and can take about 40 minutes. Make sure to check the weather and wear appropriate footwear.
