Getting There

• Car

  If you're starting from a major town in the Ozark Mountains, such as Eureka Springs, head southeast on US-62 E. Continue on US-62 E for about 25 miles until you reach the junction with AR-23 S. Turn left onto AR-23 S and drive for approximately 20 miles. Then, turn right onto Compton Rd. After about 2 miles, you will arrive at the Granny Henderson Cabin located in Compton, AR 72624. Be aware that parking near the cabin is available, but it may be limited depending on the time of year.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options are limited in the Ozark Mountains. The closest bus service is via Greyhound, which operates from larger cities like Little Rock or Fayetteville. If you arrive via Greyhound, you will need to take a local taxi or rideshare service from the bus station to reach Compton. The taxi fare can range from $50 to $80, depending on the distance. Make sure to arrange the pickup in advance, as services may not be readily available.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, biking to Granny Henderson Cabin is a great option. Starting from Jasper, AR, take the scenic route along AR-7 S for about 12 miles. Once you reach the junction with AR-43, turn left and cycle for another 8 miles until you reach Compton. This route offers beautiful views but be prepared for some steep hills. Ensure you have a good map or GPS as cell service may be spotty in the area.

• Walking

  If you're staying nearby and prefer walking, you can access the cabin via local hiking trails. From Compton, take the Ozark Highlands Trail, which leads directly toward the cabin. It is roughly a 3-mile hike and offers a scenic view of the surrounding nature. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring water, as the trail can be rugged.
