Discover more about Cedar Creek Trail

The Cedar Creek Trail, a 1.25-mile loop in Petit Jean State Park, Arkansas, provides a moderate hiking experience showcasing the area's natural beauty. Constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s, the trail follows Cedar Creek above Cedar Falls, featuring rock steps and bluffs. The trail begins at the Pioneer Cabin, descending a boulder path towards the creek. Hikers can access a portion of the Boy Scout Trail leading to the Cedar Falls overlook or stay on the Cedar Creek loop to view rock formations and small caves. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) also constructed other structures in the park. Along the route, expect to see diverse plant and bird life, mountain streams, and thick vegetation. The trail offers canyon views and access to the Boy Scout Trail, which provides an alternate view of Cedar Falls. The trail's moderate difficulty arises from its uneven rock steps and bluffs. Petit Jean State Park itself holds historical significance as Arkansas's first state park, established in 1923. The park features a range of natural attractions, including Cedar Falls, overlooks, and cave art.
