    Discover more about Allsopp Park

Allsopp Park, located in the heart of Little Rock's Hillcrest neighborhood, is a 75-acre urban park offering a natural retreat with wooded ravines and a variety of recreational amenities. The park's history dates back to 1927 when the city purchased the land, with Frederick Allsopp, a prominent resident and naturalist, advocating for its development. In 1931, Allsopp commissioned landscape architect John Nolen to create a master plan that integrated a bird and wildlife sanctuary with recreational facilities. While Nolen's original plan wasn't fully implemented, the park retains the spirit of his vision. Today, Allsopp Park features a network of trails popular for hiking, running, and mountain biking. The trails, divided into a north and south sector, offer varying levels of technical skill, with some being rocky. The park also includes a playground, tennis courts, a softball field, and a pavilion, making it a versatile space for various activities. Allsopp Park is not just a recreational space but also a reminder of early city planning efforts in Little Rock. The park provides a green escape for residents and visitors alike. Visitors can explore the Allsopp Park North Fish Pond, a renovated structure dating back to 1933. The park also hosts community events throughout the year, fostering a sense of local pride. With its combination of natural beauty and recreational facilities, Allsopp Park offers something for everyone.
