Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site stands as a powerful reminder of the struggle for civil rights in America. In 1957, this high school became the focus of national attention when nine African American students, known as the Little Rock Nine, attempted to integrate the all-white school following the Supreme Court's Brown v. While the interior of the school is not accessible to the general public, visitors can walk around the reflection pool and front steps. The nearby Magnolia Mobil Gas Station, restored to its 1950s appearance, served as a gathering place for reporters during the crisis. A short distance from the visitor center is the Elizabeth Eckford Bus Bench, marking the spot where one of the Little Rock Nine faced an angry mob.
