Discover more about Observation Point Trail

Observation Point Trail offers arguably the best panoramic views in Zion National Park, towering 6,500 feet above sea level. From this vantage point, hikers are rewarded with sweeping vistas of Zion Canyon, including a bird's-eye view of the famous Angels Landing. Currently, the primary access to Observation Point is via the East Mesa Trail. This 6.8-mile round trip hike is considered moderate in difficulty, with a relatively gentle ascent through a forested mesa. The trail gradually climbs, offering a break from the heat during warmer months due to the higher elevation. While the original trail from Weeping Rock in Zion Canyon is currently closed due to a significant rockfall in 2019, the East Mesa Trail provides a less strenuous and equally rewarding alternative. The East Mesa Trail presents hikers with a unique perspective of Zion National Park, away from the crowded main canyon, and culminates in the breathtaking panorama from Observation Point.
