Augustus M. Garrison House: A Queen Anne Gem

Located in Texarkana, Arkansas, the Augustus M. Garrison House is a well-preserved example of Queen Anne style architecture. Built in 1895 for Augustus M. Garrison, a prominent attorney, the 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house showcases the elaborate detailing and picturesque qualities characteristic of the era.The house is distinguished by its irregular massing, a hallmark of the Queen Anne style, and a single-story wraparound porch adorned with delicate spindled woodwork. A three-story circular tower, topped with a conical roof sheathed in fish-scale shingles, serves as a focal point, enhancing the building's architectural character. The cross-gables feature cutaway bays with spindlework canopies, while turned supports and arched brackets decorate the porch. Inside, a prominent semicircular window with stained glass insets adds to the home's charm.The Augustus M. Garrison House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and remained in the Garrison family into the 21st century.
