Railways Create a Border City

Texarkana emerged in the nineteenth century as railway construction transformed southwest Arkansas and northeast Texas. The Cairo and Fulton Railroad, advancing south from Arkansas, and the Texas and Pacific Railway helped establish a junction in the early 1870s.
