Yenokavan: Armenia's Adventure and Ecotourism Hub

Yenokavan, formerly known as Krdevan until 1935, is a village in the Tavush Province of Armenia, celebrated for its stunning landscapes and diverse recreational opportunities. The village is located a few kilometers north of Ijevan, close to the main highway, making it easily accessible. The area's mild climate, lavish green forests, rocks, and canyons contribute to its appeal as a top destination for ecotourism in the Caucasus. Yenokavan has a rich history, with ancient churches and fortress ruins scattered throughout the area. The village was founded in the 15th century by noble tribes who migrated from Karabakh. In 1935, it was renamed in honor of Yenok Mkrtumyan, a local revolutionary. Today, Yenokavan is rapidly developing its infrastructure, with luxury hotels, eco-lodges, and adventure parks catering to a growing influx of tourists. The village's main attraction is Yell Extreme Park, the first adventure park in Armenia and one of the largest in the Caucasus. Another highlight is Lastiver, a mountainous gorge with caves that served as hiding places during the Mongol invasions of the 13th and 14th centuries. Sargis Chapel, a 13th-century religious and cultural landmark with notable khachkars (cross-stones). The chapel is a pilgrimage site, especially on St. Sargis's feast day, and hosts community events like baptisms and weddings.
