Discover more about Дом-музей сестер Асламазян

Located in a charming 19th-century building on Abovyan Street in Gyumri, the Дом-музей сестер Асламазян is dedicated to the artistic legacy of sisters Mariam and Yeranuhi Aslamazyan. Established in 1987, the museum displays a collection of over 620 original works donated by the sisters, including paintings, graphics, and ceramics. The building itself is a noteworthy example of 19th-century Alexandrapol (now Gyumri) architecture, featuring elements of traditional Armenian and European styles. Built by the wealthy Keshishov merchants in 1880 as a residential house, it boasts a typical Gyumri courtyard with tuff stone cladding and a carved wooden balcony. The museum is part of the Kumayri Historical and Cultural Reserve and is a state-protected historical and cultural monument. Mariam Aslamazyan (People's Artist of the USSR) is known for her decorative and artistic style, with compositions often arranged according to an oriental principle of color illumination. Her works depict Armenian life, nature, landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and applied art. Yeranuhi Aslamazyan (Honored Artist of the Armenian SSR) is recognized for her subtle color transitions and rich philosophical layers, exploring even the nuances of shadow in her landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and panels. A visit to the Aslamazyan Sisters' House-Museum offers a glimpse into the world of two remarkable Armenian women artists and their contribution to Soviet Armenian art.
