Discover more about SEVAN BEACH

Sevan Beach is a popular destination on the northwest shore of Lake Sevan, a vast high-altitude lake known as the "Jewel of Armenia". The beach provides a classic lakeside experience, offering a place to relax, sunbathe, and swim in the lake's cool, refreshing waters. Lake Sevan itself is a significant geographical feature, set nearly 2,000 meters (6,300 feet) above sea level. This high altitude gives the area a cooler climate, making it a popular summer retreat. The lake stretches 75 km in length, with a maximum depth of about 100 meters, creating an impressive expanse of water surrounded by diverse landscapes, including green alpine fields and rocky cliffs. Sevan Beach provides a variety of activities. Swimming is a popular pastime, though the water can be chilly. Visitors can also rent kayaks or pedal boats to explore the lake. The area around the beach offers opportunities to sample local fish dishes, especially the Sevan trout (ishkhan), a regional specialty. Historically, the shores of Lake Sevan have been a recreational hub for centuries. During the Soviet era, it was a favorite bathing destination for Armenians, Georgians, and Russians, with numerous hotels and complexes built to accommodate visitors. Today, Sevan Beach continues to be a beloved spot, offering a blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
